What is the FREE SHUTTLE BUS Schedule?

Free shuttle buses will start running around 7:00am on Saturday & Sunday and the last shuttle bus from Glenmore Park is 6:30pm.

There are three main locations for parking your car to take the Shuttle Buses;
- Chinatown - Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre
- Chinook LRT Station
- Mount Royal College West Gate

We encourage you to take advantage of the this great service as parking is very limited at North Glenmore Park.

Race and Festival Information

When are the races?

Racing will be held on August 9th, 10th, 2008 on the Glenmore Reservoir at the North Glenmore Park docks.

What are the team registration fees per team?

Entry fee for the festival

What are tent fees this year?

Tents will be available for rental.  No personal / team tents will be allowed on site other than the rental tents.

How many teams will be expected to register for the festival?

50 teams.  (including youth, adult, and gender specific).

Will all equipment be provided during the race festival weekend?

Yes, paddles and PFD’s will be provided for those teams that do not own their own equipment.

Will there be Cup races?

Cup races will be held (Banker’s Cup; Breast Cancer; Youth; and a few others).  More information will follow as we get closer to race weekend.

What will the format of the festival be?

There will be vendors, a beer garden and entertainment during the race weekend.  You can expect to see a visible cultural component within this year’s entertainment.

Practice Information

What are the practice fees?

Practice will be $60 per practice from start of the practice season to the Calgary Festival.
After the Calgary Festival to end of season the fee will be $50 per practice

What if a team needs a coach?  What are the fees?

Coaching will be offered @ $60 per practice.

How often are teams allowed to practice per week?

Teams wanting to book 1 practice a week may book any open practice slot.

For teams looking to practice twice a week, one practice can be on a weeknight (Monday through Thursday) and the second must be on a weekend.

For teams looking to practice three+ a week, must consult the practice administrator.

What type of boats will be available for practices?

If you are practicing on the Heritage Park side, Dynasty boats will be available (seats 24 paddlers).

If on the North Glenmore Dock side, BUK boats will be available (seats 20 paddlers).

The organizing committee of the 2008 Calgary Community Dragon Boat Festival, is pleased to announce that plans for the 2008 Calgary Community Dragon Boat Race & Festival are well underway. The organizing committee is made up of members of the local Dragon Boating Community, the Calgary Canoe Club, the Calgary Chinese Merchants Association, Corporate Sponsors, and the City of Calgary.

The mandate for the new organization is:
To establish a community based dragon boat race and festival that is safe, sustainable, well organized and accessible to all Calgarians while being sensitive to the history and traditions of the event by providing on site entertainment and activities to ensure a fun and friendly environment for people of all ages.

The 2008 Calgary Community Dragon Boat Festival, which will be held on August 9th & 10th, 2008 on the Glenmore Reservoir, is proceeding with renewed enthusiasm. This year’s festival will include the excitement of recreational and competitive dragon boat races, welcoming local and out-of-town teams, include various fun and experiential activities for children and families and a chance to honour the rich cultural history and traditions of the event through significant support from and involvement with Calgary’s vibrant Chinese community.
