Saturday morning, 7:30am the monks from the Monestary begin a Chinese Tradition called the "Eye Dotting Ceremony" on Dragon Boats at the 2010 Calgary Dragon Boat Regetta. The ceremony's purpose is to ward off evil spirits and prepare the boats for safety and good luck for the paddlers racing in the regatta.....
Twenty teams competed with each other for 5 main prizes with approximately 800 people in attendance this year. Prizes were comprised of Calgary Dragon Boat Society Youth Challenge Cup, Calgary Dragon Boat Society Calgary Chinatown Centennial Cup (Women’s Champion), Calgary Dragon Boat Society Cup (Mixed B Champion), Hong Kong Cup (Novice champion) and Alberta Wong Memorial Cup (Mix A Champion).
