Former Mayor of the City of Calgary & Premier of Alberta Ralph Klein appointed as CCCCC’s Special Advisor

According to the new supporter list released on May 20 from the co-chairman Ed Tam of the Calgary Chinatown Centennial Celebration Committee (CCCCC), the former Mayor of the City of Calgary & Premier of Alberta, Mr. Ralph Klein accepted their invitation as the Committee’s Special Advisor.
Ralph Klein was the Premier of Alberta; he succeeded Don Getty as 12th Premier of this province from December 14, 1992 to December 14, 2006. After his retirement, the position is assumed by Ed Stelmach on December 14, 2006.
Mr. Klein was born on November 1, 1942 in Calgary, Alberta. Ralph Klein was firstly elected as Calgary's 32nd Mayor, and succeeded Ross Alger, on October 15, 1980. After he decided go to the higher level in 1989, there he quitted his position and entered into the provincial politics and became the MLA of Calgary Elbow from 1989 to 2007, and the mayor’s position was succeeded by Donald Hartman.
Mr. Klein's major accomplishments when he was the Mayor of the city included the beautification of the Chinatown in1986, 1988 Olympic Winter Games, Calgary's Light Rail Transit System and protection of the Bow River and etc.
Today, he is one of the most remarkable, goodwill and well-known politicians in Calgary Chinese community.
