The City Council Endorsed Chinatown Centennial Celebration

The regular meeting of the SPC on Community and Protective Services of the City Council was held yesterday at 9:30 a.m. The discussion about the allocation of $500,000 in March this year for the establishment of Chinese community to celebrate its first century; the fund is straightly on beautification and a number of plans to commemorate the celebration. The meeting was chaired by the Alderman Ric McIver.
The celebration issue was presented by the Manager Dawn Thome and Director Kurt Hanson, who were from the Community Service Program Policy, Department of Recreation. After that, about an hour and half of discussion, a number of city aldermen inquired about the amount of $500,000 of public money. After the aldermen listen to the explanations who are involved in application for ask the support for the funds of their projects, and the City Council unanimously passed that sum of public money allocated by the original resolution.
In the inquiry, the Alderman Diane Colley-Urquhart said, she hoped the historic significance of the celebration, to see the community to work in unity. After the meeting, Manager Dawn Thome was interviewed for her opinion, she also has the similar message as Alderman Diane Colley-Urquhart to the Chinese community.
