The Calgary Chinatown Centennial Celebration Committee founded

On Saturday, March 27, 2010, a group of volunteers from the Chinese community were called to the first community meeting to discuss the celebrations for the 100th Anniversary of Calgary Chinatown, which was held at the Calgary Tsung Tsin Benevolent Association (#101, 114 – 3rd Avenue S.W., Calgary) at 2.30 pm. It brought together various individuals and associations’ representatives from the Chinese community.

During this meeting, the “Calgary Chinatown Centennial Celebration Committee” was formed, with four temporary contact personnel from the Chinese community assigned Ed Wong, Ed Tam, Pak Tsang and Khin Chew. 

The next meeting is to be held at the Calgary Tsung Tsin Benevolent Association at 5:00 pm on Sunday, April 11, 2010. All interested individuals and associations/organizations are invited to attend this meeting to discuss about the various ways and programs to celebrate the Centennial of Calgary Chinatown. This meeting will also hope to see the participation of various interested individuals, associations and organizations from the mainstream society and various ethnic groups that will work together as a team to showcase the unity of the Chinese community and co-operation with the mainstream society and other ethnic groups, and live in harmony with all groups.
